The Innovation for the Environment Series is an annual series with around 300 participants from government and industry. This year’s title is ‘Smart Designs for Environmental Sustainability & Liveability’. It will be held on 5 November 2012, from 3pm – 6pm.
There will be presentations by Prof. Kees Christiaanse from SEC FCL and Asst. Prof. Andreas Sevtsuk, PI of the SUTD Cities Form Lab, followed by a panel discussion with the presenters and the NEA CEO Mr. Andrew Tan. The moderator will be Prof. Kristin Woods, Head of Pillar for Engineering Product Development/SUTD; and Co-Director of Singapore-MIT International Design Centre.
The presentations are motivated by the fact that the world has experienced rapid urbanization over the past decades. Over half of the world’s population now resides in an urban environment. Apart from its usual functions as centres of economic growth and cultural exchanges, cities are more importantly places where people live, work and play. The presentations will therefore explore some of the innovative ideas to design and create smart, environmentally sustainable and liveable cities of the future.
