Infoscape Listening

Shintaro Miyazaki leads this week’s seminar with a talk titled ‘Listening to Singaporean Infoscapes & Networks’. Miyazaki is currently a short term resident fellow at the Interactive and Digital Media Institute (IDMI) of National University of Singapore. Miyazaki is interested in critical thinking and artistic practice with communication technologies in dynamic environments.

Abstract

Infoscape Listening investigates the invisible electromagnetic networks that surround us. The talk will start with some historical backgrounds of the intemingling of technology, networks and listening. In a next step it will describe the project “detekors”, which makes electromagnetic data neworks audible by simple electronic circuitry. And finally it will then elaborate on possible applications in the field of urban studies.
