The Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) is delighted to announce an upcoming forum on the theme of GDP and the City. The forum will be an opportunity to think through some of the broader economic parameters that structure contemporary research on future cities. Featuring four speakers from diverse backgrounds, the panel discussion will investigate a range of key questions, including:
- How is GDP defined, and how is it used in the planning of Singapore’s economy?
- What are the limitations of using GDP as a benchmark for urban development? – What are possible alternative measures of wealth and prosperity?
- How do these concepts intersect with research on sustainable future cities?
A two-hour panel discussion, the forum will offer plenty of opportunity for an engaging discussion and debate between the speakers and the audience.
